DOCTORS' DAY CELEBRATIONS

DOCTORS' DAY CELEBRATIONS
Date : 01st July 2024
Location : Santhigiri Siddha Medical College
In a heartfelt initiative, our students have set an exemplary model of charity on National Doctors’ Day. The students reached out to bedridden patients in Santhigiri Ward of Manikkal Grama Panchayat, providing much-needed assistance. They visited the homes of 65-year-old Sugathan K., who is bedridden due to a stroke in Santhigiri L.I.G Quarters, and 63-year-old Abdul Kabir from Anandapuram, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, to provide them with wheelchairs. Additionally, they gave a walker to 62-year-old Krishnan, who is also bedridden due to a stroke. The students also distributed walking sticks and diapers to other bedridden patients in the ward who needed them. Notably, the funds for this aid were raised by the students by reallocating the money meant for posters and banners for this year’s college student union elections. The distribution was inaugurated by the college principal, Dr. D.K. Soundararajan. Manikkal Grama Panchayat Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson R. Saheerath Beevi, ASHA worker Mallika S., and Science Club Coordinator Prof. Sheeja N. joined the students in delivering the wheelchairs and walkers. Members of the student union and students from the 19th batch of B.S.M.S were also present. As a continuation of this service, Clinical Coordinator Dr. Prakash S.L. announced that plans would be implemented to provide doorstep services in collaboration with the panchayat.
